National D-Day Memorial - Bedford, VA
On D-Day, June 6, 1944, nineteen young men from the town of Bedford, Virginia died on the beaches of Normandy. With a population of only 3,200, the town of Bedford suffered the highest proportional losses of D-Day. The National D-Day Memorial was built in Bedford for this reason, and helps us to remember the sacrifice given by not only the men of Bedford on that day, but from all the other soldiers from the U.S. and our allies.
